AU to Conduct All Spring Semester Classes Online for Remainder of Semester

As part of our ongoing response to the complex and rapidly changing COVID-19 situation, American University is taking a number of additional steps to safeguard the health and well-being of our community. Beginning March 18, all classes will be conducted online through the end of the semester. Students remaining in the residence halls are instructed to leave campus by March 23 and return to their permanent addresses for the remainder of the semester. AU will work with students to help provide support in this tradition.

In addition, all AU study abroad programs are canceled and students are being instructed to return to their permanent addresses. The university will transition to an expanded telework environment for the majority of operations beginning Monday, March 16 and continuing through Sunday, April 5. All university sponsored public events are suspended. These actions will support the safety of our students, faculty and staff, and the broader community, while at the same time allow us to continue our academic and research mission. For more information review President Sylvia M. Burwell’s message to the community and visit our COVID-19 Resources webpage.
