I’ve worked at AU for three and a half years. Before that, I worked as a doctor at Children’s National Hospital.

My job is to provide a wide range of medical services for students, including primary care, immunizations, blood work, and support for mental health, sexual health, and eating disorders. A typical day includes splitting my time between patient care and administrative tasks. In addition to being a doctor, I also have a supervisory role for all our providers. My office is in McCabe Hall.

My favorite place on campus to steal a quiet moment is at the pond near our office. I also like to take a walk around the quad when I need a breather. Campus is at its prettiest when the cherry blossoms are out. My go-to lunch spot is Wagshal’s. My go-to order at the Dav is a latte and a croissant.

I grew up near campus in Cleveland Park. While I didn’t attend AU, I came here in high school to do research in the library, and I took swimming lessons here as a little kid. My babysitter growing up was also an AU student. I show my AU spirit by wearing AU gear and talking positively about my work here. I love seeing patients here.

The person who helped show me the ropes is David Reitman, medical director for the Student Health Center. He’s been a great mentor to me and [has aided in] my professional growth. I found my community at AU by working with people across campus, like athletic trainers and staff in the Office of the Dean of Students and the Center for Well-Being and Psychological Services. We’ve developed relationships around patients that are really helpful.

When I’m not at work, you can find me visiting friends in Deep Creek, Maryland, or traveling to the Eastern Shore. My hobbies include going to theater and musical shows at the Kennedy Center and baking. I’m also in the Congressional Chorus.

The last great book I read was The Covenant of Water by Abraham Verghese. The last great show I watched was Welcome to Wrexham. The last great meal I ate was at Daru, an Indian restaurant in DC that I went to for my birthday.

My most Washington moment was playing street hockey on roller blades in front of the White House when I was a kid. I would go with my cousins and brother to play, but there was a whole crew of people who would go out there. It was the most surreal experience with the White House looming over you.

If I wasn’t associate medical director at AU, I’d work in public health policy or I’d be a sociologist. But my job is best because it’s fun to be on a university campus, and I like working with young people who are learning how to interact with the health care system for the first time as an adult.
