Bio
Dr. Aroutis Foster is the Linda A. and H. Kent Baker Chair and Dean of the Baker School of Education, and Professor of Learning Sciences and Technologies at American University. He earned his Ph.D. from Michigan State University in 2009. With more than 20 years of teaching and research experience and 13 years in academic leadership, he studies how technology - games, virtual platforms, AI, and immersive digital environments - shapes cognition, identity, motivation, and learning. Previously, he spent 17 years at Drexel University, where he served as Interim Dean and led the GLIDE Lab. An NSF CAREER Award recipient, Mellon Mays Fellow, and Phi Beta Kappa member, Dr. Foster brings an interdisciplinary, internationally informed perspective to advancing education, technology, and inclusive academic excellence.
