Bio
Alya Gaspard is a doctoral intern at the American University Center for Well-Being Programs and Psychological Services. She holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology and pursuing a Psy.D. from the George Washington University. She provided long-term individual psychotherapy using a variety of clinical approaches in different settings, including community mental health centers and private practices. Alya was previously an extern at American University where she gained experience in a college counseling setting providing therapy to students during important points of transition and identity development. She works from an integrative framework primarily drawing from psychodynamic, interpersonal, and cognitive-behavioral approaches. Her areas of clinical interests include trauma, experiences of international students, intersectionality, emotional regulation, and relationship and interpersonal issues.

Alya identifies as a Lebanese American cisgender woman and is trilingual (French, Arabic and English). Growing up in the Middle East, Alya takes pride in her culture and constantly attempts to break the stigma or taboo around mental health and help people access services.
