Kate Larrabee is a licensed clinical social worker in the District of Columbia. Before coming to the American University Center for Well-Being Programming and Psychological Services, she worked in community mental health and intensive outpatient settings where she focused on treatments for substance abuse and co-occurring disorders. Her clinical interests include addiction, crisis intervention, and treatments for trauma and depression. Kate’s style is rooted in attachment theory and cognitive behavioral modalities, and she believes that a strong therapeutic relationship is at the center of effective treatment. A career changer, Kate is also interested helping clients explore change and meaning in their lives. She is a graduate of the University of Michigan School of Social Work and Bates College.
