Dr. Marika Gilbert is a staff psychologist at the American University Center for Well-Being Programs and Psychological Services. Dr. Gilbert received her Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology at Nova Southeastern University. Prior to joining the Center, she gained clinical experience working with adolescents, adults, and couples providing individual and group therapy for both mental health and substance abuse concerns. She works from an integrative framework primarily drawing from Acceptance and Commitment, Interpersonal, and Solution-focused approaches. Her areas of clinical interest include: ethnic minorities, first-generation students, life transitions, family-of-origin concerns, relationship issues, individuation, mindfulness and psychological flexibility.
