Mark has a passion and drive for building organizations and institutional-quality portfolios to meet the needs of stakeholders. He has an extensive track record in generating value add which has allowed several universities and colleges to better achieve their goals in research and provide the best education for students.

Mark Newcomb has extensive experience designing institutional portfolios and allocating capital into both traditional and alternative assets. After first managing the marketable investments portfolio for the University of Texas Investment Management Company (UTIMCO), Mark was tapped to join the Washington University in St. Louis endowment where he led a team managing the public markets allocation of capitol. Mark has also served in a business leadership function at a leading hedge fund as the head of business strategy for the healthcare-focused Rock Springs Capital.

In his current role, Mark is responsible for the day-to-day management of American University’s endowment, working capital investments, and operating cash and debt. Having earned his master’s in business from UNC Kenan-Flagler School of Business, Mark is also a CFA charter holder. Additionally, Mark volunteers as an investment committee member to the Gilman School and is chair of the investment committee at Roland Park Country School endowments.
