Bio
Ken Austin is a retired US Treasury Department economist. Earlier in his career he worked for the State (postings in Jamaica and Côte d’Ivoire) and Commerce Departments and taught university economics. He now teaches economics again because it has been a lifetime passion. He believes that rigorous and objective (i.e., non-ideological) economic analysis has the potential to ameliorate important social problems. His current research focus is on trade imbalances and energy issues.

He currently lives in Wilmington NC.
