Travis J. Wiebe currently serves as principal of Somerset Elementary School in Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS), the 14th largest school system in the country. Mr. Wiebe began his career as an elementary school teacher. He has experience teaching first, third and fourth grades. He then transitioned to human capital management consulting with TNTP and later spent five years as a coordinator in the Office of Human Resources and Development for MCPS where his primary function was to recruit and select highly effective teachers for the school system.

In 2011, Mr. Wiebe joined the staff of the American Institutes for Research (AIR) as senior consultant for educator quality where he consulted nationally with school districts on human capital and teacher effectiveness. He worked as an assistant principal and principal intern before being appointed as the principal of Wyngate Elementary School, where he served students, staff, and families for five years. Mr. Wiebe enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, and exploring new restaurants in Washington, D.C. He is the proud father of Brutus, his mini bernedoodle.
