Background

In August 2022, President Biden signed the Inflation Reduction Act into law. With a combined $391 billion worth of funding, tax incentives, grants, and subsidies, the Inflation Reduction Act is the largest U.S. federal investment in domestic energy security, renewable energy development and deployment, and climate change mitigation and adaptation measures. Implementation of the clean energy and climate provisions of the Inflation Reduction Act now falls to federal agencies, tasked with updating their programs and allocating resources efficiently and in accordance with administrative priorities.

The full-day conference will convene national experts to discuss successes and assess challenges federal agencies face when implementing the climate and energy provisions in the Inflation Reduction Act. We will explore progress, barriers, and lessons-learned six months postenactment. We will also examine the extent to which federal support and programs for renewable energy and climate mitigation and adaptation are effective, and where federal programs can be improved to better serve communities and achieve the country’s climate goals. The event is free and open to the public and the media. Federal employees and contractors, industry, NGO staff, and interested students are encouraged to attend.
