Are you a current or aspiring professional in the field of counterterrorism and homeland security? Many public affairs schools offer specialized degrees that can prepare you for careers in emergency management, federal law enforcement, homeland security policy, immigrant and travel security, cyber security, intelligence analysis, and general mission support.

When choosing a degree program, look for schools with faculty with practitioner experience in the world of national security and a strong placement record across federal, state, and local emergency management agencies. Offerings may include classes on terrorism, crime and public policy and national security policy.

The Master of Science in Terrorism & Homeland Security Policy at AU’s School of Public Affairs will train you to understand and address homeland and national security challenges that endanger the security of the United States. Our program emphasizes development of strategic, policy-based security solutions at federal, state, and local levels. Our alumni have gone on to careers across the Department of Homeland Security, including HSI, CBP, USSS, and CISA, as well as in the Department of Justice, including FBI, ATF, and DEA as well as numerous agencies in the intelligence community. In addition, graduates of our program hold positions in both for profit and nonprofit organizations outside of government that focus on homeland and national security, including Crowdstrike, Guidehouse, Billington Cybersecurity, CSIS, and more.
