Bio
Monty McGee serves as the Director of Cyber Partnerships & Engagement with the Edison Electric Institute where he leads a range of activities to strengthen cybersecurity across the electric sector. He is also an adjunct professor at American University where he teaches graduate cybersecurity courses. McGee also works to enhance the cybersecurity of state and local organizations by serving in the Virginia Defense Force’s special cyber unit.

Previously, as the Associate Director of the Cyber Readiness Institute, McGee advised hundreds of small and medium-sized companies on practical cyber enhancements to secure their operations and third-party relationships. Before CRI, he led Booz Allen Hamilton’s expert team supporting the DoD Chief Information Security Officer’s cybersecurity engagement with international allies and partners.

Earlier in his career, McGee served as a U.S. diplomat where he managed strategic communications and outreach campaigns on cybersecurity and information technology issues. He brings a record of using innovative approaches to tackle complex challenges in support of defense, intelligence, and diplomatic cyber missions. McGee speaks Spanish and lives in northern Virginia with his family.
