Bio

Carrie Garber Siegrist advises mission-driven nonprofit tax-exempt organizations and social entrepreneurs on a full range of tax, corporate, and transactional issues relating to tax-exempt status and nonprofit operations with Goodwin Procter LLP. She serves new and established public charities, private foundations, social enterprises, healthcare systems, higher education institutions, trade and professional associations, and social welfare organizations. Professor Garber Siegrist also counsels clients on international operations, lobbying and political activities, and entity affiliations in support of clients strategically furthering their exempt purposes. Professor Garber Siegrist provides tax guidance regarding structuring social impact activities, charitable giving, joint ventures with tax-exempt organizations, qualification for tax-exempt status, revenue-generating activities, UBIT, and impact investing. She also advises on charitable giving. Professor Garber Siegrist is the former the Chair of the DC Bar Taxation Section’s Exempt Organizations subcommittee.



Prior to practice, Professor Garber Siegrist worked with the Lex Mundi Pro Bono Foundation, the Public International Law & Policy Group, and co-founded Cambodia’s Children Education Fund. Prior to law school, Professor Garber Siegrist taught fifth grade in The Bronx through Teach for America.
