Bio

Sweta Patel is a partner at Bruckheim & Patel, a litigation firm specializing in criminal defense, civil litigation, and family law. In her role at the firm, she oversees the growth and management of the practice. Sweta has focused her career litigating a wide range of cases from DUIs to drug trafficking and other serious felonies as lead counsel. She is an active member of the Criminal Justice Act panel of D.C. Superior Court and D.C. Court of Appeals where she represents indigent clients with criminal and appellate cases.

Prior to joining Bruckheim & Patel, Sweta worked as an associate attorney in private practice focusing on federal and criminal litigation in the District. She began her career as an assistant public defender in Tampa, Florida. In addition to teaching Pre-trial Litigation at American University Washington College of Law, Sweta is an instructor for Continuing Legal Education courses through the DC Bar and previously served as coach for the Mock Trial Society at WCL.
