Dual LL.M. in Law and Government and International Legal Studies
LL.M. candidates enrolled in the Program on Law and Government may obtain a second LL.M. degree from the LL.M. in International Legal Studies Program (ILSP) upon completing 16 additional credit hours. This dual LL.M. may be of particular interest to students interested in studying both the international and domestic side of an area of specialization such as environmental law, business law, or human rights and civil rights.
Dual LL.M. in Law and Government and Advocacy
LL.M. candidates enrolled in the Program on Law and Government may obtain a second LL.M. degree from the LL.M. in Advocacy upon completing 16 additional credit hours. This dual LL.M. may be of particular interest to students specializing in Criminal Law during the LL.M. in Law and Government.
Students interested in applying to a Dual LL.M. program will apply during the last semester of the LL.M. in Law and Government. The following materials must be submitted to the Office of Graduate Admissions before the application deadline.

LL.M. in Law and Government and Masters of Public Policy (MPP)
American University Washington College of Law and American University School of Public Affairs (SPA) jointly offer a dual degree program in law and public policy. Both degrees can be completed in as few as 4 semesters, for a total of 45 credit hours. The LLM/MPP is designed for students interested in examining the integral relationship of law to public policy.This degree focuses heavily on finance, statistics, and theory. The LLM/MPP offers a broad theoretical grounding in policy analysis, program evaluations and successful policy implementation and provides students with the necessary skills to creatively address the political, financial, organizational, legal, ethical and constitutional challenges inherent in developing and delivering sound public policies.
