Student Employment Opportunities

Public Safety Aides are student workers who assist the university police by conducting patrols, providing escorts, community watch, ticketing and parking enforcement, office work, traffic direction, presentations, special events, and other exciting opportunities. This is an exceptional opportunity for a student to familiarize themselves with campus, establish contact with University Administrators, and meet high profile individuals, and it is also an excellent starting point for students interested in careers in criminal justice.

Special Events

PSAs that work Special Events are not only given the opportunity to assist University Police Officers while escorting the guest, but they may also have the opportunity to meet the visiting VIPs, celebrities, or Heads of State. During special events, ticketing PSAs are responsible for preparing, distributing, and collecting parking signs to make navigating AU's campus as easy as possible for our guests.

Ticketing

PSA Ticketing is the portion of the PSA program that enforces the parking policies at American University. Ticketing PSAs provide excellent customer service to the AU community through our presence across AU's campuses and by answering guest questions, such as, where a particular building is located, where to park, and how to pay for parking. In addition to providing information about campus life, ticketing PSAs play a critical role in ensuring that AU is a safe place to walk, drive and park.
