Bio
Zhuo (Emma) Chen is an Assistant Professor of Management at the Kogod School of Business in American University. She graduated from Nankai University in China, where she studied International Economics and Trade. She received her M.A. in Economics from Duke University and her Ph.D. in Strategic Management from Rice University. Emma’s research focuses on corporate strategy and entrepreneurship, with particular interests in the role that mergers and acquisitions, corporate venture capital and strategic alliances play in external knowledge sourcing and corporate renewal. Emma is a member of the Academy of Management and the Strategic Management Society. Her research has been published in the Strategic Management Journal and has been presented at numerous academic conferences, including the Academy of Management Annual Conference, Strategic Management Society Annual Conference and Strategic Management Society Special Conference. One of her papers was a finalist for the Best Paper Award at the Strategic Management Society Special Conference at Oslo. Emma teaches the undergraduate Strategic Management capstone course MGMT 458.
