Campus Computing Facilities

The university provides a wide range of computing resources and support services. There are more than 20 computer laboratories at AU. American University Library's main facility, Bender Library, also has numerous computers for research. 

Please contact the labs directly for the most up to date information regarding their hours of operation and service offerings.

Computer Labs, Open Access

The Anderson Computing Complex is located on the basement level of Anderson Hall with an entrance on the north side of the building near the Centennial parking garage. It is open every day of the week from 8 am - midnight. The lab is open to the entire AU community.

The Geospatial Research Lab is located on the basement floor of the Bender Library in Room B53. Specialized geospatial software is available in the Geospatial Research Lab, including ArcGIS Pro, ArcMap, QGIS, and ENVI+IDL. The lab is open to all AU students, but preference is given to students using geospatial software when the lab is full.

The Kogod Financial Services & IT Lab is located on the terrace level of the Kogod School of Business building expansion in room T51. During the Fall and Spring semesters, it is open from 9 am - 11 pm on Monday - Thursday; 9 am - 8 pm on Friday; and 12 pm - 8 pm on Saturday and Sunday. During the Summer, it is open from 12 pm - 8 pm on Monday - Friday, and 12 pm - 6 pm on Saturday and Sunday. The facility is open to all AU students, except when in use for a class.

The Kogod Student Mini Lab is located on the terrace level of the Kogod School of Business building expansion in room T54. It is open from 7 am - 11 pm on Monday - Friday, and 7 am - 9 pm on Saturday and Sunday. The facility is open to all AU students.

The Editing Lab is an open work space designed for students to complete projects in film, video and graphics. The lab contains 13 MacPro and iMac computer systems equipped with the latest versions of Final Cut Pro and Adobe Creative Cloud software, including Photoshop, Premiere Pro, After Effects and Audition. The lab is located in McKinley 301 and is open Monday - Saturday; closed Sunday.

The School of Public Affairs Lab is located on the subterrace of the Kerwin building, Room ST-01. It is open from 9:30 am - 8:30 pm on Monday - Thursday; 9:30 am - 7:30 pm on Friday; 12 pm - 7 pm on Saturday; and closed on Sunday. The facility is open to all AU students, except when in use for a class.
