Writing Consultants

The Writing Center employs both undergraduate and graduate consultants from diverse academic specialties, interests, and backgrounds that are ready to help all AU students. Below, find a brief bio about each of our Consultants. Anna C. is an undergraduate senior studying Journalism. 

Catherine (they/them) is pursuing a double degree in psychology and philosophy and is enrolled in a concurrent BA/MA program. They are also minoring in creative writing, making them familiar with a range of writing styles.

Humberto is a law student at the WCL. He completed his BA in Economics and Philosophy at the University of Florida and is most familiar with writing in the social sciences. He was also a tutor before attending law school, and loves to help students in the writing process.

Sara is double majoring in journalism and literature (creative writing track), and she thrives in essay writing and creative writing. Sara is also an editor at The Eagle and is well versed in AP style. She loves helping students find their voice through writing.

Stephannie received her MFA in Writing from AU in 2017 and has worked for the Student Academic Services team ever since. She is originally from Caracas, Venezuela. When she is not at the Writing Center, she works with first year students with learning differences in reading and writing as part of AU's Learning Services Program

Anna S is a graduate student studying Philosophy.

Charlie is a graduate student in the School of Public Affairs. He previously graduated from the University of Southern Maine with a BA in Political Science.

Lily Pingel (she/they), is a first-year graduate student in the Public Policy Master’s program. I have a liberal arts background, and their Bachelor’s degree is in Sociology with a minor in Religious Studies. 

Sarina (she/they) is an undergrad in the International Studies program minoring in Creative Writing. She is a Scholastic and YoungArts national medalist in poetry, certified TEFL instructor, and also the 2022 DC Youth Poet Laureate. She loves building community with writing and helping others share their stories.

Subi is a graduate student studying public policy. She previously has achieved a post-graduate diploma in new-media Journalism and an undergraduate degree in a triple major of History, English literature, and Sociology.
