Youth Empowerment & Sustainable Community Development Building Positive Peace & Sustainable Communities

In this program, students will explore and learn how to build resilient and sustainable communities through youth leadership and mentorship. It focuses on how inequitable systems of power( regarding colonization) create barriers to community security; how communities can sustainably support the academic and career goals of the next generation. Students will have the opportunity to learn from local stakeholders in DC and during their time in Honduras about the ways to build positive peace by participating in youth empowerment and community-led advocacy. By working with local non-profits such as OYE and their local partners, students will better understand these complex challenges that exist in the world we know them to be today.
