  1. Who can study at ELTA?
    • Have graduated high school/secondary school
    • Have an intermediate English level (minimum Duolingo English Test score: 60, or TOEFL/IELTS equivalent
    • Provide proof of liquid funds (if requesting F-1 visa support)
       
  2. How do I apply for the ELTA program?
  3. How long does the ELTA program last?
    • Fall and spring programs: 15 weeks
    • Summer program: 10 weeks
       
  4. Does studying at ELTA give me an English test waiver for a degree program application at American University?


    No, ELTA completion does not waive English test requirements for American University degree programs. You will still need to submit an English test score that meets their admission requirement.

  5. Does studying at ELTA give me guarantee me admission to a degree program application at American University?


    No, ELTA is a non-pathway program. You will have to apply directly for undergraduate or graduate admission at American University.

  6. Do you provide immigration support to international students?


    Yes, ELTA supports F-1 International Student visas for full-time students, issuing I-20s upon admission and financial document submission.

  7. Do you provide on-campus housing?
    • Spring and fall: Students arrange own housing
    • Summer: On-campus housing available
       
  8. Do you offer scholarships?


    No, ELTA does not offer scholarships, and students are responsible for the tuition. If you have already secured an external scholarship, we will be happy to work with you.

  9. What are the living expenses like in Washington, DC?

  10. Can I work while studying at the ELTA program?


    F-1 students may not work during their study at ELTA.
